L'AMIA, Marchigiana Associazione Iniziative Artistic Association, owner and organizer of the Marche Prize, is pleased to announce, twenty years after the last edition, the definitive revival of the famous exhibition that, since the Fifties, has been characterized as one of the more significant in the territory of the Marche Region and of national importance.
The Marche Prize, from the 2018 edition returns to be the famous Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will be inaugurated with an exhibition at the Forte Malatesta in Ascoli Piceno from 17 November 2018 to 31 January 2019.
Historically linked to the city of Ancona, the Marche Prize becomes itinerant, to affirm and confirm the primary objective of knowledge and enhancement of the Marche artistic scene in the contemporary, Italian and international visual arts.
As part of a renewed and updated representative role, the event, starting from this XXIV edition, intends to face a regional territorial exhibition that moves from Ancona to the Marche region so much to be an added value for the territory, through the involvement synergistic of the local cultural and economic realities of all the major cities of the Marche at each next edition.
For this edition the city of Ascoli Piceno has been identified, in order to a recent exhibition tradition of the territory, in the presence of museums and civic galleries of contemporary art and on the basis of the structure and quality of the exhibition spaces offered, as are those of the Forte Malatesta, the famous Fortified Fortress, today represented by the definitive arrangement made by Sangallo the Younger in 1540.
At the same time we want to show how the Marche can return to being a point of reference for artists, critics and scholars and for this, the biennial cadence will be turned to alternate years to the artistic recognition on the regional territory before and on the national successively.
The Marche 2018 Prize is dedicated to artists from the Marche region, or operating in the region, giving recognition to established authors and young artists with outstanding technical and poetic qualities.
With the same inspiring principle, the choice of artists will be carried out in two ways: at the invitation of the Scientific Committee and through the selection made by a Judging Commission among all the applications received by the Competition Announcement with final deadline (October 4, 2018).
This, with the dual objective of making different generations and expressive mediums dialogue, united by a theme that will be chosen for each edition, and to identify a coherent aesthetic path that will then be the leitmotif of the exhibition, the final event celebrating each edition.
The theme chosen for the 2018 edition is "The artistic interpretation as harmony. Expression and perceptible parameter of a legacy of the work of art in the Italian artistic tradition (Western and European ".
Among the artists selected by the Judging Commission, the winner of the MARCHE 2018 AWARD is a number of 12 (twelve) artists who, given the recognized artistic value and the adherence of the work to the theme of the festival, will be rewarded with the invitation to the next National exhibition of the MARCHE AWARD - Biennial of Contemporary Art.
Moreover, from this edition the Critics Prize "Alfredo Trifogli" was instituted, named after the historical President, creator and founder of the Marche Prize, in the desire to enhance a personality linked to the promotion of art in the brands.
